Harrah's Entertainment Takes Communicating Personally
Las Vegas, Nevada, March 8, 2007:
"From a sales perspective, representing six major Las Vegas meetings and conventions properties is great, began Michael Massari, vice president of meeting sales & operations for Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment. But with six diverse properties and countless combinations of offerings, we needed to find a way to match up custom offerings with each unique customer's individual needs."
Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment operates as the meetings and conventions division of Harrah's Entertainment, the world's largest provider of branded casino entertainment.
Targeting prospective meetings and conventions customers worldwide, Massari oversees all sales, marketing and operations for Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment, including a team of 40 plus salespeople which has responsibility for selling, as a collective entity, six Las Vegas properties which include Bally's Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Harrah's Las Vegas, and the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
"The most important piece of collateral we have is the sales kit" Massari continued. "This is what our salespeople provide to meeting planners after responding to their information request. We really wanted to find an innovative way to showcase to the planner how our diverse set of offerings could be combined just for them, to meet their specific needs.
To add to their challenge, in a city like Las Vegas, things are constantly evolving. "We might add a new restaurant, a new headliner, or something else along those lines," notes Amy Dosa, Sales Marketing Manager for Las Vegas. "It was really important to us that we be able to accurately reflect our current product offerings. But you could spend a fortune in creative and printing costs trying to keep collateral materials current." Massari and Dosa believed there must be a better option.
"Our vision for the solution seemed pie in the sky at first," stated Dosa. "We wanted something that could be customized by our sales people so that each piece could speak to a single, specific customer. We wanted something that could be modified by our marketing team as needed to keep up with our ever-changing products. We wanted the ability to print as small or large a quantity as we needed, rather than in large lots just to get a better unit cost. And we wanted to make sure that all of this didn't come at the expense of having something that looked professionally-produced."
After looking at multiple service providers, Massari and Dosa selected Dallas-based New Media Gateway (NMG) because of its experience in digital technology and expertise in the destination industry. "We liked that NMG had a proven track record with corporate clients like FedExKinkos", stated Massari, explaining Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment's rationale in choosing NMG as its service provider. "Additionally, they specialize in our industry, so they were already familiar with how we operate and what we're trying to do."
In analyzing Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment's needs, NMG came up with a solution involving several NMG offerings including Custom Application Development services as well as the Digital Marketing Center product.
The first solution was to develop what Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment calls its Custom Sales Kit Application. "Each of our 40+ salespeople can log into our web-based system from anywhere with an Internet connection" stated Dosa, explaining how her application will work.
"They can then select from existing templates and assemble a custom sales kit specific to their client's individual needs. The most impressive part is that each kit can be really easily personalized down to the individual for multiple recipients within the same organization. This means that not only is our information current and the content targeted to the prospect's event, it's also 100% relevant to the individual recipient. This will set Harrah's apart and have a huge impact on our ability to deliver the personal service our customer's are looking for."
The second solution involves NMG's Digital Marketing Center (DMC), which brings together seven frequently-used digital communications tools like e-mail, surveys, etc. and organizes them in one integrated environment, saving time, energy, and resources.
Used in combination with the Custom Sales Kit Application, salespeople will be able to market, sell and communicate more cost-effectively and save time and energy doing it.
‘We're thrilled to have Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah's Entertainment on board as a customer" stated Lou McErlean, Vice-President of Hospitality Marketing and Sales. "As the largest gaming entity on the planet, they have a reputation for innovation, so we believe it reflects well on NMG that they chose to work with us for their needs.
The solution set is scheduled to be deployed in February, 2007.
